How to Create Discussions

Overview

This step-by-step guide from the Office of Digital Instruction walks you through how to create Discussions in Canvas.

How-To-Guides

 

  1. Open Canvas

  2. Click on your course from the Dashboard

  3. Click Discussions in the Course Navigation menu

  4. Click > +Discussions in the top right menu to add a new Discussion Topic Title

  5. Add a title, instructions, and attach a document, file, or image for the discussion

  6. Select the desired Options for the Discussion Topic

  7.  In Assign Access, assign the Discussion to Everyone or certain students

  8. Click > Save and Publish or Save before publishing the discussion later in a Module
