Upload a QTI .zip File (also referred to as a QTI package) of quiz questions to Canvas.

This step-by-step guide from the Office of Digital Instruction walks you through the steps to upload a QTI .zip File (also referred to as a QTI package) of quiz questions to Canvas.

1. Log in to your Canvas course, then click the Home link in the left navigation.
   
   
    
2. Click the Import Existing Content button in the top right side of the screen, then select Import Quizzes.
   
   
    
3. From the Select Content Type dropdown menu, choose the QTI .zip file.
   
   
    
4. In the Source box, either drag and drop the QTI .zip file or click Choose File
   
   
    
   The file name will appear at the bottom of the  box
   
    
5. Under Options, check the Import existing quizzes as New Quizzes box. Then click, +Add to Import Queue. If using Classic Quizzes, do not check this option.
   
   
   
    
6. Under Content imports, the QTI .zip file will be queued for uploading. A blue progress bar will appear in the Status column until the green Completed button appears after the file is uploaded.
   
   
   
   
    

7. Click the Quizzes link in the left navigation.
   
   

8. Canvas will produce an unpublished, generic quiz named “Quiz,” for a New quiz that has a blcak spaceship icon.
   
   
   
   Canvas will produce an unpublished, generic quiz named “Quiz,” for a Classic quiz that has an outlined spaceship icon.
   
   

9. The last step is to edit the quiz, publish it, and deploy it to a course Module.
