Respondus LockDown Browser/Monitor

Respondus has been a pioneer of online testing for two decades. Each year hundreds of millions of exams use LockDown Browser and Respondus Monitor to ensure academic integrity at educational institutions.

Students: Please use the attached document to assist with logging in to your test. Below are a few additional tips:

  • Microphone or camera not detected
    • Fix: In Chrome, go to Site Settings for atitesting.com and allow Camera and Microphone access ATI.

  • Respondus asks for a password
    • Fix: Ensure you open the exam in LockDown Browser, not in your regular browser. If the exam has a password, you’ll see a different screen than the error message St. John's University.

    • Fix: Update LockDown Browser to the latest version. On Windows, open LockDown Browser, click the Information icon, and check for updates. On Mac, open LockDown Browser, click the Globe icon, and check for updates St. John's University.

  • Reinstalling Respondus
    • If other fixes don’t work:
      • Windows: Uninstall all Respondus/LockDown Browser entries from Control Panel, then reinstall from ATItesting.com (admin rights required).

      • Mac: Drag all Respondus/LockDown Browser icons to Trash, empty Trash, then reinstall ATI.

  • Chromebook compatibility
    • Fix: LockDown Browser is not available on Chromebooks at this time
