My Financial Situation has Changed. How can I get my Financial Aid re-evaluated?

If your financial situation has changed and the FAFSA does not accurately reflect your current circumstances, you may request a Special/Unusual Circumstance Appeal so that your federal aid eligibility can be re-evaluated.

How to Request a Re-Evaluation (Special Circumstance Appeal): https://morehouse.edu/aid/financial-aid/special-circumstances-appeals

  1. Determine if you qualify
    • Identify whether your situation qualifies under “special circumstances” (e.g., job loss, reduction in income, increased medical expenses) or “unusual circumstances” (e.g., dependency status changes) as described by Morehouse.
  2. Submit the appeal form
    • Complete the Special/Unusual Circumstance Appeal web form using the link provided above.
  3. Upload supporting documentation
    • Provide documentation that supports your case (for example, letters, legal orders, termination notices, medical bills, or statements
  4. Review & decision time line.
    • The Office of Financial Aid will review your materials. You should receive a decision (and, if approved, adjustments to your aid) by 60 days after enrollment.
    • Understand limitations and obligations
    • Submitting an appeal does not guarantee any adjustment to your aid or dependency status.
    • Even while your appeal is under review, any outstanding charges must be paid by the payment deadline.
