I Checked My Account and I Have a (-) Balance. However, I didn't Receive My Refund and My GAP Funds Were Removed/Reduced. Why?

GAP Funds Are Non-Renewable and Non-Refundable

GAP funding is awarded only for the current academic year to cover a specific financial gap. If GAP funding creates a credit balance (more funds than charges), the amount will be reduced so it only covers your student’s bill. Families will not receive the extra funds as a refund.

GAP Funds May Be Reduced if New Funds Are Applied. If additional scholarships, grants, or outside aid come in later, GAP funds will be reduced or removed to avoid over funding. These dollars are redistributed to other students with financial need.

Why Refunds Are Not Issued?
GAP funds are not cash aid; they are applied only to cover the gap in your student’s account. They cannot be refunded because they are limited and intended to help multiple students.

Why You See a Negative Balance:
The negative balance likely reflects that your charges are fully covered after adjustments, but GAP funds were removed because:

  1. Additional aid came in (scholarship, grant, etc.), or
  2. GAP funds were only meant to cover the gap, not create a surplus.
