Service Overview

Use this service to request an excused absence if you are unable to attend class due to an acute episode or ongoing mental or behavioral health concern. This includes, but is not limited to, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), panic attacks, and similar conditions.

You may submit your request before obtaining supporting documentation. If documentation is not available at the time of submission, you may provide it during the review process. Requests cannot be approved until all required documentation has been received.

This category also includes conditions documented through Morehouse College Counseling Services and/or the Office of Educational Accessibility (OEA). If applicable, please include supporting documentation with your request when it becomes available.

Submission of a request does not guarantee approval. All requests are reviewed in accordance with the Morehouse College Class Attendance Policy.

Examples of Mental & Behavioral Health Concerns

Examples of qualifying mental and behavioral health concerns include:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
  • Panic attacks
  • Other documented mental or behavioral health conditions
     

Before You Submit

Before submitting your request, please ensure that you:

  • Submit your request within five (5) calendar days of the absence.
  • Upload supporting documentation if it is available.
  • Respond promptly to any requests for additional information from Academic Affairs.
  • Have not already submitted a request for the same absence.

Important: Do not upload photographs containing injuries, blood, bodily fluids, or restroom-related images. Requests containing inappropriate images may be denied.
