Phishing
Phishing is a malicious attempt to deceive individuals into revealing sensitive information, such as usernames, passwords, or financial details, by pretending to be a trusted entity through fraudulent emails, messages, or websites.
Spam
Spam refers to unsolicited and irrelevant messages sent in bulk, typically for advertising, phishing, or spreading malware. These messages can clutter inboxes, pose security risks, and disrupt communication.
Instructions
There are multiple ways to report phishing and spam to help protect campus security:

Email Reporting: Forward the suspicious email to security@morehouse.edu.

Phish Alert Button (PAB): Use the “Report Phishing” button in Outlook to flag suspicious messages. Learn more about the PAB here.

Service Desk Ticket: Submit a ticket through the Service Desk portal, including email details and attachments.

Phone Support: Contact the IT Service Desk at 404-507-8633 for immediate assistance.

In-Person Support: Visit the IT Service Desk in Sale Hall for direct reporting and guidance.
Troubleshooting
Encountered a suspicious email or unwanted spam? Follow these steps to address the issue:

Identify the Source: Verify the sender’s email address and look for red flags such as unfamiliar links, urgent requests, or spelling errors.

Do Not Click Links: Avoid clicking on links or downloading attachments from unverified sources.

Report the Email: Use the “Phish Alert Button” button in Outlook or forward the email to security@morehouse.edu.

Block the Sender: Mark the email as spam or block the sender to prevent further messages.

Check Account Activity: Review your account for unauthorized access or unusual activity.

Submit a Ticket: If you suspect a phishing attempt, submit a detailed report through the Service Desk portal for further investigation.

Follow Up: Stay alert for follow-up communications from IT regarding reported phishing attempts.
