Overview
This step-by-step guide from the Office of Digital Instruction walks you through creating Announcements in Canvas.
How-To-Guides
- Click on the Announcements link in the left course navigation

- Click the Add Announcement button

- Type a title for the announcement in the topic title field and add content in the Rich Content Editor. You can also attach a file

- To add an attachment to your announcement, click the Attach link, then select a file to attach (PDF, DOCX, PPTX, etc).
- The file name will appear with the paper click icon.

- By default, Canvas will send your announcement to all sections of your course (HCOM-351-01, HCOM-351-02, etc). Select the specific section(s) of the course under
Post to

- In the Options section, you can select various options for your announcement (Date, Time, Availability, Allow Participants to Comment, etc.)

- Press the Publish button
